Mary Wiles - Award winning songwriter & multi-instrumentalist

Americana music

Mary Wiles, a native Seattleite, has won many songwriting awards from the likes of Billboard and often plays six instruments at her shows. Americana music has been described as “The rich threads of country, folk, blues, bluegrass, gospel and rock”  which perfectly describes the eclectic mix of Wiles’ styles.

Wiles has loved playing musical instruments and writing songs since a child.  Her transparent story songs paint a movie screen of life’s stories, touching hearts with the dreams, loves, feelings and faiths that live within each of us. Her upbeat shows also include bluegrass and Americana favorites, highlighting her musicianship on harmonica, banjo, violin, mandolin, keyboards, and guitar.

Wiles performed at the Goodwill Games in 1990 and at Expo ’86 in Canada. She has also opened for Loretta Lynn, country star Tracy Byrd, and the 60’s hit making group, “The Association”.

In the Gospel world, Wiles has opened for Annie Herring of the group “2nd Chapter of Acts”, Bob Bennett, Freddie Fields of the 70’s group “Lovesong”, and the comedy act, “Isaac Air Freight”.

Wiles has been a featured artist at almost every fair and hundreds of festivals in the Northwest US, including one of the nation’s largest fairs, the Western Washington Fair.

In Nashville, after a grueling audition against 150 songwriters, Wiles was one of only a few songwriters chosen to perform her original songs at the notorious Bluebird Cafe.

Wiles was one of only three up and coming artists chosen from Washington State to perform on the grandstand stage at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds in Washington State for the “Best of the Northwest’s Artist Showcase.”

Wiles has released two original albums, with the most recent inspirational Why Not Take A Chance album completed in Nashville.  Four of the radio singles from this album rode in the top ten on several Christian Country music charts for four years, including one song, Waymaker, that rose all the way to #2.

“Mary wowed the audience with her talent…She was surrounded by seven different instruments…She often played more than one instrument per song…top quality entertainment”

Janiel Stone, The Daily Record, Ellensburg, WA

Wiles is presently in the studio finishing her new 10 song album "Blonde Girl Blues".

It will highlight her original Americana story songs...Sassy country blues, thought provoking ballads, and melodic rock.  She plays nine different instruments on the tracks, along with other great musicians.
