Why Not Take a Chance album review

Sound/Style:   Bright, slightly rootsy country-pop

(UMC.org)—… In addition to her undiluted country, pop and blues influences…. she’s a well respected and very busy entertainer on the Northwest U.S. circuit, satisfying all ages with a mix of rock and country standards and wowing crowds with her expertise on fiddle, mandolin, guitar, harmonica, banjo and keyboards. Her experience as a seasoned stage veteran fairly screams out from her pop-gospel record Why Not Take a Chance, which displays her songwriting strengths alongside her impressive musical skills….

Though full-blown and impressive entertainer inside Mary Wiles sometimes threatens to overshadow her messages, that’s hardly something to complain about if you’re a fan of engaging and uplifting pop and country music. If you are, then you’ll likely agree with the question she poses on Why Not Take a Chance.   Steve Morley

“Solid writing with lots of diversity of style… Wiles has a clear voice, is a top          Multi - instrumentalist on guitar, fiddle, harmonica, banjo, mandolin and keyboards, and delivers one top flight show"      Chris Lunn, Victory Music

“Flawlessly recorded, beautifully performed, highly recommended.”            Midwest Book Review

Why Not Take a Chance album review

Mary is a very talented lady. She wrote all the songs
and produced this CD. Besides those talents she plays, blues
harmonica, keyboards, banjo, fiddle, 12 string guitar, slide
guitar, and the mandolin.
Mary's talents really shine on this release.  Her music
is a blend of Country, Rock and Gospel. Her vocal range is
very impressive with her ability to land the high notes.

I really enjoyed listening to this CD. I especially
like the fine harmonica work found on it. Mary manages to
place the harmonica parts in the perfect spots of the songs.

If you like your music Modern Country with an edge
of Rock added in then you have to get this release.

multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer-songwriter, blues harmonica, Mary Wiles Show, lavender violin, awarded songwriter, theaters, country blues, banjo player, violinist, guitarist, keys

Mary Wiles -  Wrong Side of Town  This is Wiles' first album featuring her skillfully crafted, unabashed story songs.  In the R&B title song Wrong Side of Town, harmonica, keyboards and raw vocals belt out the true story of her old car dying at 2AM in the red light district of Seattle, and the angst of getting out of there in one piece! Other songs include the heartwarming Play it Like Grandpa Plays, a story about her Grandfather teaching her to play violin as a child, and the deep eerie woods of Alligator Country, where the only law is your gun.  Love Doesn't Just Disappear pictures a man escaping in sorrow on a train from the love of his life, and gives hope as she follows him for forgiveness.  Wiles rocks out on her acoustic guitar, harmonica and unsanded vocals on No Two Timer Gonna be My Man.  Features Wiles' violin, banjo, keyboards, guitars, harmonica and mandolin.  Country Blues, folk, melodic rock, traditional country... or in other words... Americana!

"Wiles has much to bring to the table with her vocal chops...underscored by her talented harmonica and guitar playing."                                                                           Power Source Magazine, Nashville, TN
